“Hike da Falls” 9.28.19

“Hike da Falls” was a Michigan DNR sponsored event to celebrate Michigan state parks’ centennial year. A free shuttle provided transport from the lower falls to the upper falls, allowing one to walk the five-mile hike between the Tahquamenon Upper and Lower Falls. I made the trip and am dedicating it to my grandkids: Greyson, Ellie, and Maddie. Although we can’t always be together, I want them to know they are always with me in my heart.

We load the bus for the short ride to the upper falls.

Capt warns everyone to watch out for large cats while walking on the trail. I am glad he is along to keep us safe as I left the bear spray in the car. Skye jumps up on a post to guide the way. Capt yells – stop Nana! Those are not the kind of mushrooms that go in your salad.

We made it!!!

The keeper of the trails could take a few lessons from those that are the keeper of the trails on Isle Royale. It was a slow going muddy walk. However, the sights were pretty.

And we survived 42 degree temp at night. No bike ride in the morning as by 0900 it had not hit 50 degrees and I brought no gloves. So when all was folded and in the truck, we headed home.
