Theodore Roosevelt National Park

Where have all the great men gone? I am not saying he is the last great man but a great man to be remembered. If one loves nature and to camp under the stars, one cannot do so without holding Theodore Roosevelt’s actions near and dear to one’s heart. It is due to his love of nature that we have the National Park system preserving areas for us to enjoy forever. The following are photos of the only National Park named for a president.

Some tour guides books report that the Cottonwood campground at Theodore Roosevelt National Park is one of the best in the National Park System. However, I still believe that the walk-in camping at Sleeping Bear National Park.

Thank you for your wisdom in creating the National Park System, if for nothing else, for that wisdom

Five miles beyond the South Unit entrance nestled along side a river and in the cottonwoods one will find the campground.

AND there were flowers!

The white flowers that cover the prairie dog village.
Not a flower – but definitely beautiful to see as one drives from the South to the North Unit of the Park.

The Scenery.

And what explorer in their right mind would think I wonder what is on the other side of these hills?
Of course, Lewis and Clark – but would you?

At the end of the day

I took the hint – no riding on this day. Just a few short hikes.
Best purchase for the trip. (And least expensive). Holds my entire kitchen set up and the sit and spin lid is useful on a dew covered picnic bench in the morning.
After a day in the heat, the bucket turns into an outdoor air conditioner. Just drain the cooler water into the bucket, set the fan on top with the hose down into the water and viola – air conditioning as soon as you hit the mist and fan buttons. Beauty is – can be used any where. Just charge the fan while you drive.
